BIODEC™

Decanters, 100–3,650 m³/h: stainless S range and composite C range.

BIODEC is a scum- and solids-excluding, air-actuated decanter. It incorporates all the advantages of a submerged-weir decanter, peak handling capability, while retaining the operational simplicity and straightforward build of air-actuated decanters.

BIODEC SBR decanters have only one moving part: a simple, small-diameter three-way motorized ball valve. The vertical movement of the decanter is achieved by injecting or releasing pressurized air into the body of the decanter. Decanter levels can be adjusted easily on site to suit local conditions. This air-powered decanter can be driven by the plant's own aeration system, eliminating the need for any complex equipment.

How it works

The process

Compressed air alone moves the decanter. Injecting air into the floating body lifts it clear of the water; releasing the air lets it sink. During decantation it descends with the falling water level, and because the pipe sections break the surface first, floating scum and solids are excluded before the weir reaches the water, so only clear water leaves the tank. At the plant's top water level the decanter doubles as a safety overflow.
