UASBIndustrial
Covered anaerobic reactor and biogas pipework at the Dreher brewery wastewater treatment plant, Budapest, Hungary

Scope of supply

Dreher Breweries produces and distributes bottled, canned and draught beer in Budapest. UTB built the wastewater plant turnkey: drum filtration, buffering and two-stage biological treatment: a UASB anaerobic stage followed by an aerobic stage. The biogas from the anaerobic system is burned in a boiler and returned to the brewery as steam. Closed reactors and a biofilter keep the plant inside strict noise and odour limits.

  • 2,800 m³/day
  • 107,333 PE
  • 3,900 Nm³/day biogas recovered as steam
  • UASB anaerobic + aerobic biological treatment
  • Technical handover November 2007; commissioning completed May 2008.
  • Closed reactors and biofilter for noise and odour control
