Operations building of the Zsámbék municipal wastewater treatment plant, Hungary

Scope of supply

The plant treats communal wastewater from Zsámbék and the municipalities of Budajenő, Tök, Perbál and Telki. It was a greenfield project subsidised by the European Union, designed for nutrient removal: a mechanical stage, a conventional continuous-flow activated sludge process, disinfection, and gravity thickening with mechanical dewatering of the excess sludge, with odour treated through a biofilter. Two parallel biological lines were built, each with an aeration tank and anaerobic, anoxic, facultative anoxic/aerobic and two aerobic zones, feeding two parallel longitudinal final clarifiers.

  • 2,500 m³/day
  • 18,800 PE
  • Two parallel activated-sludge lines built for nutrient removal
  • 32 m³/day septic waste; biofilter odour control
  • Commissioned November 2022.
